My daughter and her family have moved to Charleston, so my wife and I have visited several times. It is a beautiful area, with great beaches, water activities, shops, and restaurants. And the history that is on display there is truly amazing. I highly recommend it for a visit.

One tour leader made with laugh when referring to the Civil War.......he said they didn't call it that in Charleston......some called it the War Between the States......some called it the War of Northern Aggression.....but he preferred to refer to it as "The Recent Unpleasantness with the North"........great stuff!

I have always wanted to see the Carolinas. I only got as far as Ft. Jackson... lol... One day though.

The beautiful thing about the Carolina's is that they have four real seasons and the people are some of the most friendly in the USA. They are stereotypical Southern gents, etc. The landscape is great. Its almost like Yosemite. There is stuff there for every tourism need. History, romance getaways, etc. The food's great too.
Our daughter and husband got orders to Fort Bragg/Pope, so now we have even more excuse to visit!

I spent a lot of time in Charleston while stationed in North and South Carolinas and we did everything on the list, and more. Charleston is a great place, for an overnighter, weekend or week long stay...great sites to visits and restaurants and bars. Especially once you get over the bridge and check out the coast...a great place to visit, and even has retirement potential!
