Like I said on another post on this same article -
Information in this article is just unbelievable. I felt as though I stepped through the looking glass and went back to the past.
As for the lady and her Marine spouse moving 9 times in 15 years and the child going to 10 different schools by 10th grade, more information is needed because all this information does is to sensationalize something that may not actually exist. One item that is suppressed in the lady's statement is how many of these moves were by necessity and how many were at the convenience of the family; that may change the picture dramatically, at least from my point of view.

Which is more dramatic?
My spouse had 8 PCS moves and our family needed to move 6 times in 20 years. And our children attended schools in 5 different school districts over 14 years.
OR
My family moved 11 times during 20 years of military service. And my children attended 9 different schools over 14 years.

I was curious why this breakingdefense.com had a top line photo of my Alma Mater since it didn't mention the military service academies in the article about the Bipartisan Policy Center study SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint
The idea about associate degrees for warrant officers and NCOs may have some merit as long as the degrees clearly link to the professional requirements.
Up or out has been a tradition in this nation's military or a very long time. Other militaries allow service members to rise to a level where they are proficient at and stay there of they choose.
In our military, the warrant officers are the only ones who may be able to stay where they best fit.

LTC Stephen F. No idea why their picture was WP. The Marines used to have Limited Duty Officers (LDO)s which were normal commission grades up to O-5. Some real Salty Marines.
