Beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Meanwhile Congress voted themselves an $8,000 raise.

I saw that. They tried to sneak that by everyone, what with all of the attention on the impeachment circus.

1SG (Join to see) - Sadly it didn't seem to get much press with all the other shenanigans going on in DC. They also vetoed a Social Security increase.

TSgt David L. - Who vetoed a SS increase? There is only one person with that power, and if he did that the news would be abuzz with it.
It is not.
Everything I can find says that SS checks will increase by 1.6% also.
Do you have a source?

1SG (Join to see) - I could've sworn that's what I saw. Maybe I misread the article. I don't remember where I saw it though. I stand corrected.

Will they stop stealing, erm I mean “offsetting”, our retirement check to pay our disability?

When you rate 50% or more.
I never really understood why this was, or what is magical about 50%. Seems to me one payment has nothing to do with the other. It affects a relatively small number of Veterans, but still.

1SG (Join to see) it was likely a compromise to get it passed, but I don't see why someone with a rating under 50% warrant an offset.

1SG (Join to see) - It wasn't that long ago you couldn't get concurrent receipt at all. That changed in 2004, I believe.

1SG (Join to see) - why shouldn't someone with less than 50% and a 20 year career rate separate payments? IMO we are the only class of citizen who pays for their own disability. Also IMO that is very wrong.
