This is a sad situation. My prayers are that he will be found safe and receives whatever help he needs.

I do hope that they find Tony very soon! Time is everything when it comes to preventing injury or suicide attempts. I am on the AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention) local walk committee for the greater Detroit area and my wife is the chairperson and on the board. This is an area that I am focusing on at a local level so that Vets and their families are aware of the civilian resources available to those who have survived an attempt and families who are left behind. I pray the trackers find him and are able to get him the help he deserves! I served with 1/24 in Detroit and we also lost 22 in 2006. Those losses are not easy for active duty units let alone reserve units... S/F "Always beside you"

Gunny - can you get the word out through other networks as well? As you stated clearly, time is of the essence. I hate to see my brothers and sisters in arms survive hell holes around the world just to lose the battle back at home.

Sir, I am always looking to find ways to reach my brothers in arms that are in need. It's a challenge but one I embrace. I have contacts at the local VA in Ann Arbor that I've worked with in the past. This social media thing is kind of new for me and a valuable tool I am striving to effectively utilize. AFSP is a national non-profit organization with local walks that raise money to fund research, community outreach and educational materials for those who struggle with suicide and mental health issues and their families. We have a facebook page for our local walk and other AFSP chairpersons should be managing their pages as well. The "Out of the Darkness" walks (OOTD) are the local chapter walks in communities which have organized. I encourage anyone interested in getting involved to visit AFSP's site for more information.
