You did not quote the question correctly. the question was about military-style assault weapons like the AR-15 rifle, not military grade.
I have no problem with citizens owning these weapons, but I think they should be licensed as we do with machine guns.

Maj John Bell - I understand you concern. I think any law would have to be specific as to each and every weapon to require license.

MSG Stan Hutchison - I'm not comfortable with a model number designation. That allows some room to punish some arms manufacturers selectively.

If gun control advocates are serious about gun control AND respecting the 2nd Amendment, is it too much to ask for a clear unambiguous set of design characteristics and the objective reasoning behind those characteristics?

Maj John Bell - I could see that.

I actually believe our discussion here is moot because I don't think they would ever get the votes to ban or require a license for any firearms.
Thanks though for the good discussion. The nation needs more like this.

Nothing new here. Any good polling company can tell you the results they are going to get before they ever conduct the poll. In the vast majority of cases, the people paying to conduct the poll tell the polling company what results they want and to polling company conducts a poll to get those results. The most obvious tricks are in how you ask a question using loaded words and who you ask; but more subtle tricks include the order of the questions, WHERE you ask, and what time of day you ask for those "random" telephone polls. Even the font used for a poll can impact the results. Polling is a very sophisticated science.
