Love America. And love what it’s about.
That was the resounding theme shared by veterans and their supporters Saturday during Six Bends Harley-Davidson’s Independence Ride to the Veterans Memorial at Four Mile Cove Eco Park.
A parade of 73 motorcycles were welcomed to Cape Coral with sounds of “God Bless America” and promise of refreshments on a hot summer day. Among the welcoming committee members stood 5-year-old Logan Fowler, who held up his hand to wave in the riders.
“Wow,” Logan said again and again as riders passed by. Similar sentiments were shared by his stepmom, Iara, and father, Jeremy, whose dog tags are among those displayed on the Iraq War Monument in the park.
“It’s important for my son to see this,” said Jeremy Fowler, who served in the 101st division in Iraq in 2003.
