We'll see how this one goes. I does seem a stretch the federal court will decide it is an undue burden. On the other hand I fail to see any state interest in making sure the date is filled out. It's nothing required for in person voting. The signature I get, the date? Meh.

The more I think about it is the correct answer is to make the ballots provisional. Counted if they are needed and can be verified. This is what would happen if there is a problem with in-person voting.
