Maybe the mice were for the cats which also tended to be in tombs or they were for the falcons. Both Horus and Ra were often depicted as falcons

Lt Col Charlie Brown One of the Coolest things I've Seen was watching a huge ball of feathers tumble not far in front on My Windshield and fall by the Side of the Road. Young, Uncoordinated Great Horned Owl who's eyes were bigger that his Skill Set took out something from the air but I assume it was to heavy to fly away with.
