Truly eerie, fascinating film, true story, with Johnny Cash as hero Sheriff Lamar Potts, and Andy Griffith playing a truly, seriously, memorable role as a very, very, very, very bad villain, if you've never seen Andy Griffith play a bad guy, WOW, are all of you in for one really seriously major surprise and or culture shock to your psyches, promise, he is positively DEMONIC in the role, honest, it's little remembered now, however I've read considerable about the story since seeing the film, Andy Griffith was positively and terrifyingly EVIL in the role, think Jack Nicholson as the joker for real, and you'll "begin" to understand, the villain involved made John Dillinger look like a choir boy at times, you've got to see Andy Griffith to believe him, promise...trust me, this ain't the Andy Griffith Show, and Don Knotts he ain't in this...I never could understand why he didn't get an Emmy for the role, it makes everything else he ever did, incl No Time for Sergeants, pale into utter insignificance by contrast, this film is a 100% total, absolute, mind bending trip, I gotta tell ya, promise, enjoy....
