Music Copyright After 'Blurred Lines': Forensic Musicologists Speak

I read a book(fiction) years ago on this subject. The story line revolved around a deceased musician's wife that was fighting against copyrights to music in perpetuity. There was an enforcement group called redhats or something similar, some how derived from ASCAP, that if you were convicted of infringement, would find you kill you and then pull out you central nervous system and turn it into super conducting guitar cords which were then presented to the copyright holder. The widow was trying to stop this practice.
