During National Suicide Prevention Week, September 6-12th, not only we will be focusing on debunking what a veteran looks like, we’ll be focusing on sharing stories of Military Sexual Trauma (MST).
1 in 4 female veterans are survivors of MST. Women with a history of MST are more than twice as likely than a veteran without such an experience to commit suicide.
1 in 100 male veterans are survivors of MST. Men with a history of MST are 70% more likely than a veteran without such an experience to commit suicide.
It’s time to shine a light on these experiences.
During the event, our founders & hosts, Patti Gerhuaser and Aryanna Hunter, will speak with a panel of survivors to learn more about their experiences in the military and healing process as survivors of MST.
The “My Story” panel marks the launch of the #MeTooMST campaign, where we hope to encourage survivors of Military Sexual Assault to share their stories so they too can find freedom, while simultaneously empowering others.

Service members who suffer this definitely need to be able to talk to someone outside the chain of command, to talk to people who have the training to be able to help these service members who have been violated.
