This is.... idiotic, lets do more with less is what I hear.

So you no longer want to have individual rates and want to lump everyone under 13 different umbrellas. There by letting you jam any one into any billet that they may have a remote knowledge at?

ah so you know how to cook and the cooks fall under logistics soooo we are going to send you to be a load master. .. this is how I see this working out for people.

The Navy, as all branches are short staffed more jobs than people. While they say this is to help people transition to the civilian world I question their motives. I do not see how putting a B320 on your resume will in any way explain what you did. When I tell someone im IT they understand that right off the rip. You tell someone your a Gunners mate they know what you do. You tell them your an MP... hay that's a cop, LS oh so you deal with supplies. This is a thinly veiled way for them to shift manning to must fill billets. By lumping everyone together and the fuzzing the line they can force people into jobs they know little about and expect them to learn it in the spirit of becoming a more rounded sailor.

End result will be people in jobs they don't know or barely understand putting lives on the line, the material and moral of the fleet will deteriorate even further.

Seriously! We work hard for our individual titles and ratings! Just to get into Hospital Corpsmen School I had to get a higher score on the ASFAB Test back in 1986. I would hope that is still the case because someone’s life is in your hands after you graduate. I was proud to wear a Caduceus on my arm and I NEVER gave a crap that “man” was in the the title because people would just STOP LOOKING for things to Bitch about they would realize that the word “Woman” has the word “Man” in it and it doesn’t make us any less or more of anything because of it...we do that all on our own!

And now because someone had to feel like they were being shortchanged somehow WE ARE ALL going to loose a piece of history because of it! I don’t know about other ratings, but Hospital Corpsmen just marked their 125th Anniversary as a rating in the US Navy! Now we may not make it to 130 years and that truly breaks my heart!
