PO2 Mark Saffell that is a sad story, the ship sank just after leaving port, and couldn't be found for too long. I hope that there were family members for the crew so that they could be notified.

Yeah 95 Years and never knowing. and they found it on accident as it was.

These always send chills down my spine...At least in combat, maybe the crew didn't have time to know what hit them when the magazine blew, the Zero hit the weatherdecks, or the bulkhead imploded at many hundreds of feet below. These sinkings are the sort the crew fought for hours, saw coming, and either chose to ride out until the inhale reflex kicked in...or took their chances in a cold, cruel sea. Fair Winds Shipmates.

I use to scuba dive in that area. The water Temp is never above 62. Very many hours in that with rough seas and you wouldn't survive.
