Socialism tends to be a "national" movement as in national socialism (Nazi's). Communism is a more international movement (workers of the world unite). They both employ fascism as a means of controlling the public, especially their critics. They both like re-education camps and firing squads for those that disagree with their enlightened views
Many on the left try to portray fascism as a right wing phenomenon. It is usually not. Larger governments need stronger controlling mechanism. Fascism in the vehicle they like to use.
