It is always fun to watch conjecture presented as fact:-)

I suppose the artists signed their names which is why we "know they are Neanderthals" and Cro–Magnons for instance.
I like the definitive "torchlight" assumption as opposed to skilled blind workers.

Most likely. Humans only do things for one of the reasons: war (survival), economics (exploration) and deity worship (grand artistic works).
