This illustrates many of the reasons I've always admired Patton...despite the many reasons he has been castigated over the years. He didn't set out to become a diplomat, a businessman, or a statesman...he set out to become a warrior, and in that aim, I believe it is safe to say he succeeded.

Interesting. I have a "small" piece of info concerning the Patton family; that is, I went to flight school with COL George S. Patton IV, son of GEN George S. Patton Jr. COL Patton was in the Officer class, separate from the WO Class, where I was. I saw and heard about him at Ft Wolters, TX, and he looked and acted a lot like a "Chip off the Old Block". My initial confusion as to "who was who" eventually got straightened out.
