Then they should already be making office environments start wearing the current ASU in the office. If not it will just hang in the closet next to my ASU/Blues. Changing the uniform does not do anything if it’s not mandatory to wear it.

SFC Marcenaro:

In the 80s, those who worked in office environments did indeed wear Class Bs unless they were in the field or performing a duty where a field uniform was more appropriate. 9/11/01 was the catalyst for everyone wearing the field uniform all the time, because someone in the Pentagon decided that the specter of terrorism made everywhere a "combat zone." It has only been recently that those working in the Pentagon went back to wearing dress uniforms to work. I agree with office workers wearing Class Bs.

SSG(P) (Join to see) but even now they wear ACU. Look at the photo the General Milley with President that he apologized about being a photo op, he is in ACU and everyone else was in suits. They have to implement a rule. Like you said if not in the field then you are in business attire. But they have to do it now. To me it looks like they are saying because we are getting this new uniform then we will do it. Like give everyone a black beret then everyone will act like an elite soldier. We have dress pants and shirts now but we don’t wear in the office. Just seems silly to add back another uniform if they don’t change the reg/guideline/culture to impose that uniform. Either way I will get it and have it ready just like my blue ASU and hope to wear it sometime.

I can see on active duty having the new uniform as we did uniform inspections all the time. But being a Reservist, well it's not worth it forking over the money to get a new uniform to wear for School and that's it, or for your DA photo. Don't get me wrong I like them as they went back to having the unit patch on the side like the greens. But just hate shelling over big buck to pay for a uniform I might wear once or twice.

So you wouldn’t say that it’s worth it? As a recommendation?

SPC (Join to see) Really it’s up to you. Do you plan on staying in the full 20? As a up and coming soldier it would look good on your DA photo. It will set you apart from those who will wait till the last minute to change. I was reading the wear out date for the ASUs is 2027 by then I will have three years left. Well, by then it is not worth me buying new ones. You would set yourself apart from the others going to BLC that’s for sure.
