My first response is DUH! We kind of all knew that legal gun owners were not the problem. However, the article did bring up a valid point that too many folks don’t secure their weapons properly and they lose track if them. The owners of guns bear a responsibility to keep them secure.

An interesting and not surprising article, but for one note, where I think legal gun owners might be faulted, LTC (Join to see). If your weapon is lost or stolen, report it to the authorities!

I never thought of lost or stolen weapons would be that high of a figure. I'd like to know why you wouldn't report it.

I am leaning towars an update on this post after we learn more on who within the FBI dropped the ball on Cruz a reported nut case. Also, it is reported he took meds a year ago, but no longer. What doctor knew about this guy?
There are questions not answered about his birth mother. Druggie?
This is not the first time the system has failed. Who benefits when the sytem chooses to fail?

I agree in the medication issue. Too many examples of folks on medication. If I remember correctly the man that attacked the cinema in Denver, he was on multiple meds plus he had made some comments to his therapist that should have flagged the guy down as a threat. I don't think people realize all the places where one can get prescriptions and not be in any database.

LTC (Join to see) - I understand. I admit, I am questioning which side the FBI leadership is on. But, if it walks like a duck and looks like a duck...
