That 8 lbs will be swapped for more ammo or some other whiz bang or gizmo to be carried. Lighter, if equal in strength and durability, is always a good thing but I think the edge will always be pushed for more gear on the patrol.

Perhaps one day they can create drones that stay on station for days and sustain hundreds of pounds of ammo/gear etc. They can land and resupply instantly then go back up. Of course anything in the air can be shot down.

My thoughts exactly. When they were messing around with the exoskeleton thing they said something like (and my numbers could be off here) 200 pounds would feel like 40. My first thought was well, they'll just make us carry 400 pounds then.

We always said every Infantryman should be issued a midget. Just to carry the excess weight. Or to be that on the move bi-pod. LOL!

8 pounds...WOW...That seems like a little bit of weight until you are the one carrying it.

Lol! The Army already discovered this. Next they will field the new High-Tech rifle the M4 and could shave another 1.3 more lbs.
