I have a degree in nutrition and think that meat is perfectly fine, but I would caution against The Center for Consumer Freedom, as it is run by Rick Berman's PR group. Berman was a lobbyist for huge restaurant corporations and he has actively lobbied against banning smoking in public places, raising minimum wage, and paid sick leave. So with his enormous financial interests in major steakhouses and other meat-centric restaurants, I would take anything from this with a grain of salt.
My opinion with my educational background is - everything in moderation and as close to natural as you can get is best. Moderate carbohydrate, plenty of fruits and vegetables, and responsibly-raised meats is not an issue. Factory farmed meat is an issue, but replacing it with chemical mush isn't the answer either.
