Terry Sawchuk was four-time Vezina-winning goalie
In a life touched by tragedy, he backstopped Red Wings to three Stanley Cups in four seasons, took home Vezina Trophy four times
Thanks TSgt Joe C. for letting us know that on February 1, 1970 goaltender Terry Sawchuk earned his 103rd shutout, setting an NHL record for most regular-season shutouts that still stands today.

Terry Sawchuck was likely the best goalie to ever stand between the pipes.
He had cat-like moves and read the offense like a book. Regrettably the Red Wings traded him after the '55 season and it would be another 41 years before the Wings would win another Stanley cup.
Who knows what a dynasty might have been built had they retained him for his entire career.
With all due respect to Patrick Roy and his record as a premier goalie, the brand of hockey played in the 50's and 60's was much different than it was in Roy's time. And while I like them both, I'd pick Terry Sawchuck every time.
Thanks for posting this, Joe!
