Thank you, my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell for posting the news from Army Times. “TC 3-20.40, Training and Qualification-Individual Weapons,” marksmanship experts are "overhauling the shooting training system" … "to improve marksmanship for both combat and non-combat arms soldiers across the ranks."
"Soldiers have a year from October to learn and practice these new drills for a new qualification, which will begin in October 2020.
There are two big changes — qualifying at night and under simulated chemical attack. And while shooters have long used barricades and shot from standing positions, now they’ll be graded on those portions as well to qualify."

These changes make sense to me. The 14 month train-up period will allow the trainers and "experts" to work through the best way to train and finalize the standards IMHO.

I don’t have a problem with these new weapon qualifications standards. Nice share.

I'll leave comments to our Army folks, but if it's as good as it sounds bet the concept shows up in the Air Force as well.

Sounds good but the Reserve and Guard are taxed already by training requirements, the biggest factor being time.

CW5 Jack Cardwell Isn't that the same issue they have with the new PT test?

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen Any new training is hard for us Reservists to complete, more so to even be properly trained to conduct. So much of our time because powerpoints and trainings, although necessary, eats away at our travel and training time. I would love to have a week long BA to properly conduct the range qualification but also allow our engineer operations.
