Nikki Haley Calls United Nations Human Rights Council ‘So Corrupt’

Remarks made by the American envoy to the UN, Nikki R. Haley, at the CFR in New York early Wednesday morning were her first as ambassador. She insisted that American taxpayers should get value for the 9.2 billion (Russell, 2017) the U.S. contribute to the UN—and of that 9.2 billion, $360 million was allocated to the controversial United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Near East, which is regularly accused of inculcating violent anti-Israel attitudes and even abetting terrorist attacks on Israel, which it strongly denies. In total, the US owed peacekeeping dues for FY 2014 and 2015 totaling more than $2 billion, according to information provided to the UN Tribune from the UN budget office (Fitzgerald, 2015).
Noted as perhaps the most uncomfortable moment of Ms. Haley's speech came when she tried to defend President Trump’s travel ban, insisting that it was meant to strengthen vetting procedures for asylum seekers, and citing this month’s London terrorist attack as a justification. The audience murmured audibly—the London assailant was a native-born Briton.
Ms Haley's address delivered a pointed attack on the UN Human Rights Council, the main international body meant to promote and defend human rights. She argued that the Security Council — where the US has a veto — should be the UN body addressing human rights issues. Haley accused Russia, Iran and the "Assad regime" of committing war crimes (Nichols, 2017) and plans to organize a session on the topic in April when the US takes its turn in the council’s rotating presidency. She also plans to attend the Human Rights Council’s June session, but declined to say whether she favored withdrawing from the body as did the US from its predecessor, the Commission on Human Rights.
The Security Council has taken up human rights in the past, and sought to refer the situation in Syria to the International Criminal Court, but Russia and China blocked the move with their vetoes. Several countries with poor human rights records, including China and Saudi Arabia, have indeed won seats on the council but the US has itself used its seat to forcefully defend its allies, including Saudi Arabia, which has been accused of abuses in the war in Yemen.

The UN is nothing but a welfare system for a large part of the rest of the world. Just like a lot of programs and ideas from that era, they had noble beginnings, but over time they've become nothing but pots for corruption to form and spread.

It got that way because the right people were not there “in the field”
Somehad a title and sat behind a desk and didn’t know squat or very little of whathey were supposed to do(it was a favor for a friend job, like the State Dept.) Mr. Trump is trying to put the right people that know what they are doing and know what has to be done to accomplish the job/mission assigned.There are still jobs waiting to be filled.. fill the most important ones first..

What needs to be done is scale back and to give it to them piece meal, so they are more frugal with what they spend. They say”here take more, The U.S. has plenty!”
That’s not the way, have athe referee, s’body appointed by Nikki, to be clerk doling it out.. If a bag of rice cost so much a bag or serving , that’s what they get. Have a referee on cooking/serv’g end
To see it’s not wasted. As far as food goes. Gear to rototill fields, the grain to plant. Have s’one that actually knows farming and is right there when they did it.. that’s who she wants in the field. As for other items have the right person who’s hands-on and is right there, not just doing from behind a desk with a degree on the wall... If Nikki follows that strategy with our $$$ She should be good to go!
