It seems sad to me that our holidays have lost their meaning. Those who serve/served are most likely to know the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day, but few civilians I've me have a clue. Christmas is no longer a Holy Day. Merging Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays into one day celebrating all Presidents seems a waste inasmuch as few are worth celebrating (and no one I've ever heard so much as mentions a President on President's Day) whereas Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays were used in schools to inspire some reverence for them. So, what are holidays in America but a chance to force employers to pay for a nonproductive day?
