Seems to be a token gesture, even this article says it was obsolete. My gut says they've built a new one somewhere, just haven't used it.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen my thinking is they already built a nuke they only have materials to build a few they only need that much it's more poker chip granting some security for the regime from his own people as much as everyone else

Possibility for sure. I think that countries always look to upgrade weapons, but in the case of NK you may be right.

My gut tells me China told RONK if you blow up another nuke that has the potential to contaminate our border there will be hell to pay. Hence the dramatic change in Kim following their last nuclear test. Punggye-ri (the test site that has allegedly collapsed) is less than 50 miles from the Chinese border...but what do I know?
