I can see a couple of problems with this idea - namely, Russia and China.
I'm kind of doubting either of those countries would be happy about a North Korean ICBM zipping through their airspace, especially if the U.S. was on the other end. Great circle routes, North Korean missile reliability and all that entails....

COL Ted Mc Oh, definitely agree. I was just pointing out one of the, um, fatal flaws with Kim's latest threat.
I'm kind of wondering if he's using a Mercator projection for his planning...

CW4 Guy Butler regardless of where the missile hit, it would change the world due to fallout. Even a successful intercept of the missile in flight would have potential fallout. The backlash would be terrible. First off, they would have no allies of value. Neither Russia nor China would rush to aid a crazy man who just tried to start a nuclear war. Second, it would lead to the U.S. using strategic strikes to eliminate everything in North Korea more powerful than a slingshot. Third, opening up a floodgate of information into the nation would show the people of North Korea how bad they have been lied to by the government. Fourth, it would not be James Franco and Seth Rogan who would take out the dictator this time, but he would die. Fifth, it would lead to the re-unification of Korea, and cost the U.S. and South Korea billions to bring the north into the modern age.

COL Ted Mc PO3 Steven Sherrill Y'all are waaaay overthinking this...
My thought process was something along "Heh. North Korea's threatening to nuke Manhattan with an ICBM. Right."
"Wait a second..." (Plug, plug, enter)
"Oh yeah, that'll go over well. I ought to make a humorous response on Rally Point." (yeah, apparent fail on that one)

Spaceballs - playing with your dolls again?
Spaceballs scene, Helmet plays with his dolls again...
CW4 Guy Butler - No you didn't fail. It is funny, I did laugh. I don't know why but whenever PRK is mentioned I picture the scene in Spaceballs when Dark Helmet is playing with his action figures, only it is with toy rockets in his case.
