For this fire & the Yosemite one i’d bet on lightening strike.

Wildfires in California, tragic but a normal cycle of nature. Problem is people have moved to where fires normally happen.

That part of NorCal is my old stomping grounds. Mostly grazing & farmland. Note that the fire had to jump the Sacto River to get to the structures. The river is kind of the western natural limit of Redding... the city hasn’t appreciably grown in the 30 or so years i’ve had an interest. Most growth is south along the I-5 corridor.
