NRA Officials Say People Drinking at Clubs Shouldn’t Be Armed

We have "designated drivers", why not "designated shooters"? Someone to protect us while we get hammered. Sounds reasonable to me...

I agree with Alcohol and Firearms being not the best mix, some drunks are nasty drunks and some are happy drunks.....Just saying.

The NRA is a lobbying group. Nothing more. They set policy, only because they are well organized, and get their membership out when it counts. Responsible gun ownership. Doesn't mean I shouldn't take a firearm into a nightclub. It means I must be responsible about consumption of alcohol if I am carrying the firearm. That doesn't just apply to a nightclub. That applies in general. When one chooses to exercise their right to carry a firearm, that person assumes the mantle of responsibility for their behavior while carrying. People shouldn't drink to excess and then drive either, but they still do. As for carrying in church, I would say it is just a matter of time before some terrorist decides to hit a church. Think about what a church has: 1) It has a feeling of safety. The false sense that because it is a church it will be free from violence. 2) It has people congregated. If a terrorist hit between the time that one service was ending and the next was starting, there would be people in the church, the parking lot, milling about the property, all kinds of targets. 3) Opportunity: Because people feel safe, and because of the number of people congregating in one place at the same time, a church is a big target of opportunity. 4) Religious intolerance. A church of any christian denomination, or a Jewish Temple would be a target that the terrorist could hit, and make a statement as to fighting for islam. Then even if the perpetrators are killed, they are hailed as a hero of islam striking at the heart of the infidel.
