Not ended, but sharply reduced. There will always be a number that are so mentally ill or strung out on drugs that they are beyond easy fixes or not even on the radar.
Others have deep seated challenges that defy solutions.
Still, it is a mission worth undertaking, and should continue to be properly resourced.
Unfortunately, some in power are perfectly fine just claiming victory and pretending the problem is over.

1SG (Join to see) Again, with all due respect, be very careful with the labels attributed to homeless veterans as the cause of their predicament. We've talked to many vets who were quite whole when discharged and it was only after needing to tap into the agencies and nonprofits did the mental illness, alcohol and drugs become an issue. I'm not excusing it, but I understand.

SN (Join to see) - I understand too, as I work on one of the ends for trying to get after the problem. Saying that there is one-size solution is a fools errand. But work with Veterans enough, and you will see trends that are worthy of putting resources on to get after properly.

1SG (Join to see) - The first thing would be to have people get paid for results; not just for trying (and trying varies with individual motivation, or lack thereof in which they still get paid). That's not how things work in the real world but appears to be quite lucrative in the government agency/nonprofit world.

Thanks MCPO Roger Collins , I linked to their rosy picture that defies common sense in the piece. https://www.usich.gov/communities-that-have-ended-homelessness/
