With the disdain and lack of respect that Mayor de Blasio has shown the ranks of the NYPD and Bratton's penchant for speaking his mind, I am quite surprised that he has lasted as long as he has. He has exhibited great expertise in leading the ranks of the NYPD. I only hope that any PC that de Blasio appoints will not be a butt smooch at the expense of the men under his command.

SSG Jeremy Sharp, A replacement has already been selected.

NYPD Chief of Department James O’Neill is set to replace Bratton, 68, who has been in his current post since December 2013. Bratton also served as New York’s top cop from 1994 to 1996 and was Chief of the LAPD from 2002 to 2009.

Well at least he has appointed someone from the ranks to fill the void. A four-star chief should have the experience to lead the department. Hopefully he also has the intestinal fortitude to deal with the political turmoil that swirls around the NYPD and is deflected back at the Commissioner by the Mayor himself.

TSgt William Meyer I am glad to hear that. That is over 50% of the battle in serving in that position when you have the support of the men and women serving under you. Wishing him all the best providing safety and security for the city that never sleeps.
