On Monday while President Obama was taking part in a global nuclear security summit in South Korea, he was caught on tape asking for Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for "space." "This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility," Obama implored. Obama assured the departing Russian President he will have the "flexibility" required to deal with missile defense issues after the 2012 presidential election.

Reading all the remarks what I get out of the conversation is this: You can take any snippet of a conversation between two politicians and spin it any way you want. If your politics dictate that Obamas is (or was) a bad president, you'll spin it that way. Same goes for Trump. I personally detest Trump and his antics so I filter what he says and does through that mindset. To offset that filtering I try to read pro-conservative news as well as pro-liberal news. Finding news that is completely neutral is hard. I do look at BBC, the Guardian, Fox, MSNBC, CNN, etc., etc. ad nauseam. Finding truth is an important responsibility for all citizens and a damned hard one to fulfill.

Yeah old news. Lets see if we see the context of the discussion:
I'm in middle of a re-election so any promises or guarantees to you and Putin would become moot next year if I lose. But if I win, Putin and I can continue this discussion with more flexibility and options for both of us to consider.
Yep, sounds like a similar situation as Trump suggesting to Putin don't retaliate, once I'm in charge I'll fix everything regardless of the allegations, facts, or members of his own party want.

The difference is, Trump didn't know for a certainty that he would win the 2016 election. From the video, we hear that Obama was certain that he would win reelection. How did he know this?

SSG(P) (Join to see) - Yep but he didn't promise anything but flexibility in talks with Putin after the election. Oh and it was March 2012 with election day 8 months away he was confident he'll win but it wasn't a certainty. Nice try.
