Octocopter Set to Explore Titan, Saturn's Very Cool Moon : Short Wave

NASA is on a mission to explore Titan — the largest moon of Saturn. To do that, scientists are building a nuclear-powered, self-driving drone (technically an octocopter) called Dragonfly. Scheduled to launch in 2026 and arrive on Titan in 2034, Dragonfly could provide clues about how the building blocks of life started here on Earth.

Will reality match our dreams? I fully expect that humankind will be whizzing about the solar system in some not-too-distant future (but sufficiently distant to exclude me). Will their lives be as exciting and fulfilling as ours? Or will they too dream of other frontiers wistfully pining when they realize that humankind won't cross them in their lifetimes. (Now I'm wishing I could see the science-fiction movies they might produce). For now, I thrill whenever I see something new happen. When Musk and his crew of young engineers land their rockets like we imagined in Buck Rogers movies of my youth, I get the same feeling as when I saw astronauts step onto the surface of the Moon. For me, it's a helluva time to be alive
