I don't know anything about the Naby except they work on ships, so I'll leave it at that.

Navy officials say they have decided against changing the name "midshipman" because it's a rank, not just a job title.

In January, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus issued a memo to the chief of naval operation seeking an "update of position titles and descriptions to demonstrate through this language that women are included in these positions."

Let's hope they do Greg. I think if they wanted to do more cross training inside the Communities then they should have made a secondary like billet rate system with NEC's and that would have made more sense and some logic. The one thing if it is an extreme change like some of you Intel/ Crypto stuff then you cross rate other than that if they are similar and in the same communities, or platforms, then modified NEC's. This was the long range plan but they made it political and screwed it all up.

Well, of course not. We wouldn't want to upset any Officers. Who cares that they took away 244 years of pride and heritage from the enlisted community. It is interesting to see how the enlisted community has reacted though. Some accepted the change right away, others are still hanging on.
