So his taxes all went to congressional salaries, and nothing else......and everyone else's taxes went to everything else, but none to congressional salaries? His line of reasoning escapes me.....

I don't think it was a line of reasoning, I think it was a retort to something stupid said by someone in the audience, probably something along the line of "I pay your salary so you have to do what I tell you."

SSgt Christopher Brose - So that's when you say: The tax payers do pay my salary.......and here's how I'm earning it.......I supported legislation to (whatever he's proud of supporting....). To lose your cool, like he apparently did.......is not good form for a politician that wishes to remain one.

SSgt Gary Andrews - You make a fair point, but it's all based on speculation because the media won't show enough of the video to let us know what the context was.

Whatever it was.....never a good idea to tell your constituents "bull crap"......whoever runs against him in his next election will be playing that over and over.

Notice how the video is carefully edited to strip the statements of all context.

It was a typical CNN GOP hit piece no doubt
But tell us what context would justify his statements? I honestly can't think of any that justify his behavior his tone or his statements which are unedited start to finish

SGM Erik Marquez - I'm not sure it could be justified. I just want it to be properly understood.
The media has a really bad habit of doing this, and it has a real cost. For example, the Rodney King video. They only ever showed the few seconds of video where the cops were subduing King by beating the crap out of him, because that fit the narrative they wanted. They never showed the entire video which showed King tossing cops like rag dolls. You know who did see that video? The jury. The riots that followed the acquittal announcement are the direct result of media presenting only one side of that story. The media will never acknowledge their role in screwing something up or getting people killed. If there could be accountability, people in the media would be in prison, and that would be a good thing.

SGM Erik Marquez - In this case, there may be no justification. But it might make a huge difference in public perception if the person he's responding to is a consensus idiot. The sort of thing where normal people might respond with, "He shouldn't have said that, but I can see why he did."
