SSG Michael Hartsfield . I am not a fan of defending Trump as he is not really my cup of tea but I also don't care for some of the misrepresentations being tossed about. Trump has proposed a temporary pause in allowing visa holders/immigrants/refugees from the middle east (muslim countries) because he is concerned our vetting process is not adequate. I think the notion our vetting process may not be adequate is reasonable. You may disagree with the "pause" component of his plan, fair enough. There are plenty of issues with how you identify someone as a muslim vs some other religion (or secular) from that area of the world.

If you believe he is anti-muslim what better way to make progress than détente? You act like we never talk to people that we might disagree with (please refer to Obama administration and Iran for an example or talking to the bad guys). You both tell him he should listen to others and also act as though no one should be willing to meet with him for a talk. Which is it? Do you want him to talk and listen or be isolated?

I did read the article even though it was from Time. I was responding to your comments on the article though.

The source notwithstanding, what should be of note is the willingness of an Islamic religious leader wanting to talk with Trump, not Trump wanting to talk with the religious leader as you said. If he is serious and not just blowing smoke, then I feel he should extend a token acknowledgment at the very least.

SSG Michael Hartsfield . I would encourage all people of good faith to sit down and talk. What is the worst that can happen? They continue to be at odds?

I don't know what Trump will do. He might meet, he might not. There are sometimes details in the offer to "talk" that are unknown to he masses that keep things like this from happening (conditions/location etc).

I don't think Trump has said he dislikes muslims. He has actually said the opposite. Whether you believe him or not is up to you but this notion that he dislikes all muslim is a story being pushed by his detractors in the democrat party and by many in the media.

I wouldn't say it's just those in the Democratic party as many others have and perpetuate this within the Republican party and media. What I would say about Trump is this: He very well may not dislike Muslims but he doesn't do anything to discourage it.

Muslim only need to really stand and take control of their religion! Especially Muslim women!!! There must be a secular movement in the Muslim communities or it would not do any different.

We can talk about the Imams in America all day, but he issue is there is no religious leader such as a "Pope" to dictate to all the Imams. Every Imam can say something different and until everyone comes together as a whole, there will be no change to the region or its practices.

Capt (Join to see) - do you think the changes that Christian go through is any easier? back in 1400, people get burnt to death by just questioning the teaching. Let hope it will be easier and faster for the Muslim in this "modern" age.

Sorry, missed the reply PO3 (Join to see). Eventually Christianity has eventually modernized. You see the Pope(s) making (in some eyes controversial) changes to the religion to keep with modern times. Islam needs that.

I think we may be missing each other or talking the same point but from different angles.

Capt (Join to see) - using Pope for Christianity .. is really not a very good example ... but I will take that as "example".

Yes, you are right. We are looking at the same point, just in different angles. :)

No, he wants to ban all Muslim immigration. Harkens to the time of anti-Japanese, anti-Chinese, anti-Indian, anti-Jewish, anti-Irish, anti-Italian, anti-Hispanic and yes, anti-Black sentiments that has colored American politics in the name of "security."

Like when FDR but them in internment camps? He knows that you cannot deport 11 million people. Anti black statements. Like hate groups like Black lives matter. I'm more afraid of Obama and the democrats. You are entitled to your opinion. I've lived in San Bernadinio and that terrorist attack brought it home for me. im for Rubio and I hope that Trum gets weeded out.
