It's interesting that he received death penalty while others were jailed, make you wonder why. There must be more to this story.

1SG Dennis Hicks - While I agree with you, that was never going to happen. The writing was on the wall when they welcomed him home with open arms.

SGT Christopher Hayden - That was a given when the propaganda fed to us from the MSM compared him to a hero. He is and was a POS, Karma has an appointment with him one day. I cant even imagine him having a NORMAL life even with his parasites that love him. Who in their right mind would want to be around him or be involved in anyway with this POS.

Three things instantly strike me:
1. He was initially taken off the draft due to his criminal record...what exactly were those crimes?
2. Seems like every single person in his COC and out tried every way possible to give him a reprieve...short of sending him home of course.
3. The guy could have stayed on the lam, attempted to con his way into a rear unit, just about anything...but repeatedly insisted on turning himself in and proclaiming desertion. Suicide by due process?
I've always been fervently against capital punishment for desertion...just seems too much to ask a human being to face death on either end, particularly if there against their will. Still, the evidence suggests that (as the good LTC suggests) there is way more to the story.

I was SF after Intel school and when I served with 2AD early in my career a LT in S2 told me he was only in because we paid for his college and if we went to war he would go the other direction. I told him you don't have to worry about the enemy and war I'll shoot you...
