I was struck by the VA statement "The Department of Veterans' Affairs provided benefits to two children of Civil War veterans for the past several years," says Randy Noller, a spokesman for the VA. "One, unfortunately, passed away last summer at the age of 93" SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL
Many veterans are waiting on the VA to fulfill its obligations to us while Randy Noller seems sad that a dependent of a civil war veteran has died at the ripe old age of 93 and the government will only be paying for one more handicapped adult child of a veteran.

It was not uncommon for Child Brides of Very Old Men that married them just for those Pensions so I guess it is possible there is a Child of one of those Young Brides still around.

Yeah, I'd heard the stories before, the spanish Amer war part was new though, however one would figure the numbers would be in that range, ww1 I'd expect the numbers would be even higher I'd guess, you know?
