In the early 70’s, I was stationed at NAS MOFFETT FIELD in California in VP31. It was one of the blimp hangars. It has been since torn down. That sure changes the landscape.

PO1 H Gene Lawrence Commuted on 101 past Moffett for years. In fact my USAR unit relocated from Hamilton Army Air Field (just North of the GG Bridge) to Moffett prior to the base being rebranded from a NAS to a “Federal Airfield.”

CW5 Jack Cardwell These photos are of the South Blimp Hanger’s interior at what was ‘Lighter Than Air Station’ at what is now Tustin, CA.
The adjacent land has been eagerly seized and developed into shopping areas, apartments and restaurants.
The other North Hanger, a new USMCR building and an older USAR Center are the surviving military buildings.

We scored a clamshell for storage at 8th Engrs after DS. One of the letter companies put it up. It came in real handy. Seems it was about this size, but less rigid.
