I had just recently left that AO (COMIDEASTFOR/USS LaSalle) in Feburary 1988. My shipmate was with one of the West Coast Special Boat Units, assisting taking down some of the oil rigs in the Gulf. That whole Ernest Will Op lasted way to long, IMHO.
