This is why our Founding Fathers set our nation up as a Federal system. The Federal government was not intended to be as large and overreaching as it has become. The states have lost much of their authority.

The issue I have with the article, is that it ignored the fact that States have the power to govern to alleviate the issues of a diverse republic. All his points of what is wrong with our republic stem from a distrust of those governing in Washington DC. If anything, it's when people pass the buck to capital hill to make a decision or when people in Rhode Island (just picking states here people, chill out) are trying to dictate laws in Iowa that people feel a sense that things aren't working well. There's a lot of things I disagree with the author on here, there are so many more influencers going on here and he's ignoring it.

It is an opinion piece, intended, I suspect, to spark debate.

MAJ Alvin B. - fair enough, but, I disagree on fundamental matters.

There have been books, research papers, and discussions in this point for decades. I may not agree with every, if any, of his points. however, it is worth a conversation.

MAJ Alvin B. - I'm not arguing that he is "magically" wrong because I am somehow a absolute authority, I am arguing off, through the observation of my occupation within the military.
