No explanation needed, for at least the last 30 years I've been aware of, you have not been able to bring anything vaguely resembling a gun to an event where the President or Vice President are in attendance.
There was a similar discussion earlier in the week where one of the kids from the high school shooting was talking about hypocrisy and the NRA banning guns at the VPs talk. Yet another example of folks letting the kids make horses butts of themselves by not discussing long standing protocol, facts and reality with them. The Secret service would crush anyone's nuts that tried to bring a gun into an event attended by the VP or POTUS to include the NRA or the Pope , matters not a damn.
But hey who pays attention to reality anymore......
