Like any good season finale, the last scheduled public hearing of the Jan. 6 House committee sought to wrap up the action from previous episodes while dangling the promise of more drama yet to come.
“Dereliction of duty” was Thursday night’s theme — a damning yet discordantly antiseptic way to classify Donald Trump’s behavior on Jan. 6, when he sat on his hands for more than three hours while a violent mob, whipped into a frenzy by his election-fraud lies, stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to prevent the peaceful transfer of power.
Like previous hearings, this one had its share of jaw-dropping, head-smacking and stomach-churning tidbits. The outtake from Mr. Trump’s video remarks on Jan. 7, the day after the horror, in which he peevishly rejects the prepared line “this election is now over,” was pathetic. It was heartbreaking to hear that members of Vice President Mike Pence’s Secret Service detail, fearing for their lives during the riot, placed goodbye calls to loved ones. And it was hard not to take grim satisfaction in the video of Senator Josh Hawley running through the Capitol to escape the mob just hours after he flashed the crowd outside a smarmy fist salute. (The Twitterverse is having some fun with that one.)

Perhaps, but the absence of the ability to cross examine witnesses or for the accused to call witnesses in his defense, makes it just another Stalinist Show Trial.
If there is evidence that will pass muster in a court of law then the DOJ should charge and try the accused. He is a private citizen now and is just as vulnerable to indictment as we are. I don't particularly care for narcissists of any stripe, him included. Nevertheless nothing useful is being accomplished by a partisan House subcommittee bringing forth a litany of accusations in a desperate effort to sway the ignorant or weak of mind to their viewpoint.
So bring it. If they can prove it, let's see it on the docket.

thats not the point of this Sir, this is bread and circus. Like Bannon show trial, it is just a smokescreen. Bannon trial for contempt yet no hearing or investigation into the Hunter Biden laptop information, which contains dozens of provable links between the biden family and illegal activities. I would call this administration a joke if not for the dire state many Americans are now in due to Biden's ignorant policies. Wonder how the black vote feels now, seeing as everything now costs a helluva lot more then it did while 45 was in the WH. Thats the democrat way, promise you things to get your vote, and then ram a 12" didlo up your ass when they get power.

I absolutely love that the Democrats and their base are paying more heed to that farce of a hearing in congress, Donald Trump, and abortion instead of the things that actually effect everyday lives of Americans - namely 9% inflation, double to triple food costs, gas prices, housing increases, logistical nightmares. who gives a fuck about abortion when you can't feed your children. And you know who is hardest hit by this, minorities, the demographics democrats claim they fight for. But hey - at least there is no more mean tweets
