So if you have a stance, belief, code, ect and you stick with it that is a siege mentality? Judge Moore has two negatives: He is religious and Conservative. Make that three negatives. He believes in the Constitution. He is a triple threat. And that is the only reason the political pile-on is being orchestrated now.

That's not what this article is talking about. it is OK to have principles, or at least it was until we somehow decided that people who's principles disagree with ours are somehow the enemy. When every action a group undertakes is seen through the lens of "us vs them", it leads to this mentality. This is true among Republicans and Democrats. People no longer fairly apply their beliefs across a wide array of issues, they only do it to things they believe will further their cause.
It's not that Roy Moore is a bad person because he has principles. It is that Roy Moore has been removed from the Alabama State Supreme Court twice: once for blatantly refusing to recognize constitutional protections, and once for disregarding federal injunctions which also had constitutional implications. Had these activities been performed by a Democratic senate nominee, Republicans would be gnashing their teeth for him to step aside, much like Democrats are doing now.
Even in your post you demonstrate this. I know what the phrase "triple threat" means in sports, but who is he a threat to? The progressive left? Atheists? Do we need people in office to threaten and defeat others, or do we need the best person in office that can help the most amount of people?
Interestingly enough, Roy Moore stood up for his principles in 2002-2003. It just so happens that the principle he stood up for was in violation of the US Constitution and his continued disregard for that led to him being removed from the bench.
