I know this is an opinion piece but the ability for Americans to do effective problem solving with every day life issues is in itself problematic.
Problem: Mass shooting at schools.
Proposed solutions:
1) ban all assault weapons
2) arm teachers and educators
3) get the mental health problems help before they do something
4) ban accessories that modify semi-automatic weapons to replicate auto-fire
5) more police on the streets
6) more conceal carry
7) gun free zones
8) guns allowed everywhere except federal and state government buildings (have to protect Congress and State legislatures)
9) do nothing cause we have the 2nd amendment
None of those solutions come close to addressing the problem by itself alone. It's a combination of things that have to happen and it's not going to make everyone happy. Life is real that way.
