SN Greg Wright This is epic. I would love to be able to overclock my system like that, but I do not think the heat of Thailand would cooperate. Right now I am running a mild overclock on my i7-7700K and the temps, even with water cooling, are higher than I would like. 40c at idle 75c under full load,

SN Greg Wright - But, but, but... 4.61 is just sitting there! ;) You are so right about the urge. To combat the urge, I keep an old i5-2500K around that I tried to de-lid. I just look at the mess I made of that and stop. One thing nice about my case, the NZXT H440, is that it allows for a 240 rad in the front as well as the top.
SGT (Join to see) Greg is right. It is like Linux. Once you get the bug, it is hard to go back. Research the heck out of it before you try it, and then research some more. I am sure it is the same with him, I am constantly researching about it. Looking for new tips, tricks, and ideas.

SSgt Mark Lines - I don't only research shit, I base my buying decisions on overclocking potential. Firstly, I will ALWAYS buy the K version of an Intel chip. Then, the ram has to meet my oc minimums, as does the mobo and the gpu. So for me, it's not an afterthought, it's the whole damned game.

SN Greg Wright - Are we related or something? I do the same thing. K-series proc is a must. Also, I am a big proponent of Asus and nVidia. I love Asus's Republic of Gamers series of boards. So they always get my first look.

Here is my current mobo: https://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/ROG-STRIX-Z270F-GAMING/

SrA Christopher Wright - Sounds like you got your priorities right, Chris. Building your own will ALWAYS give you much better bang for your buck. Plus it's fun!

Thanks for the share, I’ve like to have that type of system; but at the time I was at a company we’re that I was testing or in a development environment. I seen one leak that a guy built so I didn’t build that type, so the most I ever got was 4.5. Out of my i7 Extreme.
