It was the bombing of Hanoi with B-52s and the mining of Haiphong Harbor that brought the North Vietnamese to the table ready to talk.

Too bad, we did not bomb them more! Damn politicians! My question has always been: How did we 'miss' bombing the heck out of Hanoi? And Haiphong (sp). Those foreign flagged vessels would certainly have scurried out of port! Capt Seid Waddell

SP5 Mark Kuzinski - that is why the movie Flight of the Intruder showed how stupid it was to exclude Hanoi. Here is a scene from the movie. Its grainy but its great to..lets all sing 'Going Downtown'

LTC (Join to see) - Commie Vietnam is our friend now that they can deal with us better than they can with bully Red China. Now we are invited back to Cam Rahn Bay, we assist their Navy. We just got 5 bases in the Phillipines as well to be able to help keep tabs in China in the South China Sea so they are now our buddy too. The only thing we are doing right, it seems, is to not be afraid of free passage of ships and planes. Otherwise, we are wimpy on foreign policy.

I've read similar accoumts of similar squabbles during the peace talks during the Korean war, I've seen movies of North Korean soldiers quite literally glaring at cameras filming them from South Korea, and how, even now, at wo mi do bridge, the bridge of no return, I've read it's called , US and South Korean soldiers and North Korean soldiers still comparably stare at one another inquire evidently bitter hatred, or so I've heard, just some historical thoughts I'd merely found analogous, that's all, honest, hope was of interest, many thanks .

The beginning of the end of that tragic war but for many of us it left a mark in our memories that never ends, maybe that's why my visits toThe Wall are so emotional even after all these years, sorry to be so sad today I'll blame it on Friday the 13
