I was at a dance at a Grange Hall in N.D. and the band was doing all kinds of country and doing them well. I was dancing with this other woman and we were on a 3d or 4th slow dance and getting comfortable .. and we head a big Ahem over the mike and the m.c. Commented we should know where we are and to think about those that contributed to the development of the Grange..etc.,...one of the self-annoited chaperones came by and made a little space between us and did the same to another couple. .. that was in the ‘70s.. imagine what it be like in the 50s..? Kinda knock the wind outta s’one’s sail !
