This is about the most asinine thing I have read in the last 45 minutes. Someone needs to give PETA a high colonic and send them on a 10 mile hike with a hull field pack. Who is going to be responsible for the 25% of the royalties of the picture going to Naruto? PETA?? what are they going to do send someone to give him a bunch of bananas each week?
Invest in a Banana farm? or set him up a 401K for when his days in front of the camera are over? The judge should have thrown this out of Court Fined PETA a half a million for even bringing this stupid case and like the Lawyer said made the photo Public Domain so one profits from it.
I think the Macaque was the smartest one of the group.

PO3 Steven Sherrill
PO2 Rev. Frederick C. Mullis, AFI, CFM Maybe the monkey should be jailed since he stole the phone? I mean since it is already ridiculous why not take it all the way to the finish line! Asinine is a great word for this.

I understand the reason for the settlement. The last thing that most people really want is some rogue court declaring that animals have factual intellectual property rights, and this avoids a rogue judge with a pro-PETA bend to do just that.

I read the article but... am I dreaming? Drunk? Did I get hit with the Acme safe from the Road Runner? This is a real story?

Capt Seid Waddell
Cpl Brett Wagner, one certainly hopes not - but where PETA is involved it probably is.
