I believe that Fonda is overstating that he built these bikes. They were built by two black custom bike builders, Soney Vaughn and Ben Hardy, both of whom were well know builders in the California bike world at the time and after.

SSG Byron Howard Sr - These guys were very well known bike builders, so his comments would be the same as having Jesse James build you a bike and saying it was assembled by some white guys.

CPT Lawrence Cable from everything I have read about them I agree they must have been at the top at that time. I'm trying to find if they or anyone is still working I think they had a shop in wondering if it is still open.

Vaughs died in 2016, but was in an out of the Country for most of the decades before his death. A number of interesting stories of his "adventures" after being fired from Eazy Rider. Hardy died in the 90's, but the bikes were actually built at his custom shop. Vaughs said the current Captain America Bike isn't one of the originals.
