This doesn't pass the smell test. Maybe there's more to the story and I'll wait for it, but the statistics cited have been used frequently to support some pretty flaky arguments. Suicide is, by definition, the taking of one's own life. It is not a gun taking a life. It is a person taking their own life. Attributing the problem to the instrument is a non sequitur - it is not supported in any logical sense. And the numbers of deaths by guns is likewise meaningless. The lowest deaths by gun violence occur in places with the most guns and the highest rates of gun violence occur in places with the most restrictive gun laws. That is verifiable fact. Now, it's easy to see what drives Mark Kelly in this effort. His wife was the victim of a brutal assault in which a gun was employed. Logic and reason goes out the window when someone you love is hurt. I don't know what's driving Petraeus' involvement in this effort. Maybe he is hoping that this will help him recover from the embarrassment of his "mistakes". Ultimately, when I hear a group self-identify with the words "Common Sense", I grow cautious. Caution is, indeed, merited in evaluating this news.

Capt Seid Waddell, I was disappointed he would have another woman, then lie about, then lose his honor and job, and now this. He needs to lay low. He doesn't have much respect, from many, I would think, since all the problems he brought on himself.
